We invite submissions reporting original research, work in progress, and position papers on bias in multimodal GLAM collections. The workshop welcomes contributions from AI and machine learning, digital library science, information retrieval, and the humanities, including art history, media studies, history, film studies, archaeology, and adjacent fields.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Bias in multimodal GLAM collections (image, audio, audiovisual, maps)
  • Bias in metadata, cataloguing practices, and knowledge organisation systems
  • Colonial, gender, and representational bias in cultural heritage data
  • Transferability of bias detection and mitigation methods across modalities
  • Responsible AI for digital libraries and cultural heritage
  • Access management & collection organisation
  • Explainable AI in GLAM contexts
  • Power and representation in collection and digitisation decisions
  • Practical institutional interventions for bias mitigation

Submission Types

We welcome three types of submissions:

  • Full papers (8–12 pages): presenting a substantial original contribution. This includes empirical studies, system descriptions, dataset contributions, and theoretical or methodological advances.
  • Short papers / position papers (4–6 pages): presenting work in progress or preliminary findings that would benefit from community discussion.
  • Position papers (2-6 pages): arguing for a particular viewpoint or perspective on where the field should go, what problems need attention, or how the community should approach them. Position papers adopt a broader, critical stance rather than reporting completed work.

All submissions should follow the Springer CCIS format. Accepted contributions will be published in the Springer Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series.

Review Process

Submissions will be reviewed by an external programme committee. Reviews will be double-blind.
